ASSOCHAM Business Delegation to UAE
17-21 January 2009
ASSOCHAM mounted a business delegation to UAE. The 15 member delegation was drawn from various sectors in industry and commerce. Led by Mr. Navin M. Raheja, Co-Chairman, ASSOCHAM Committee on SEZ Council and Managing Director, Raheja Developers (P) Ltd with Mr. Amit Dev, Co-Chairman of ASSOCHAM Committee on Retailing and Chairman of TIME Broadband Services Pvt Ltd as the Co-Leader, the delegates engaged a large number of UAE based business persons in a dialogue to look for fresh opportunities and new avenues for business tie ups.
Business Delegation to Morocco

ASSOCHAM has, this time, chosen Morocco as the destination of its next business delegation. Relations linking the two countries are warm, cordial and multi dimensional. As these relations are rooted in history laced with socio-cultural commonalities, they cover virtually all fields. ASSOCHAM believes that sustained efforts to strengthen and diversify them are bound to bring rich dividends in terms of closer economic ties and businesses.
ASSOCHAM BUSINESS DELEGATION TO JOHANNESBURG
25-30 AUGUST 2008
As part of ASSOCHAM’s focus on Africa, a business delegation was organized from 25-30 August 2008 to Johannesburg. The object of the delegation was to engage South African investors in a regular dialogue besides canvassing the importers to expand the scope of their trade relations with India.
The delegation’s visit and various engagements including “India-South Africa Business Meet” were organized in collaboration with Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI). On 26th August, the event was inaugurated at JCCI’s auditorium by Shri Navdeep Suri, Consul General of India to Johannesburg. The inaugural session was co-chaired by Mr. Keith Brebnor, CEO-JCCI, Ms. Nada Reyneke, Head, International Trade of Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) and Shri Deepak Yadav, CEO and Managing Director, Cosmos Industries Limited and Chairman of ASSOCHAM’s Expert Committee on Sugar.
ASSOCHAM’s Business Delegation to Tokyo

ASSOCHAM was invited to bring a high-powered Business Delegation to Tokyo, Japan on environment technologies and packaging sector from 3rd -6thJune, 2007.
Indian businessmen have to look for frontier technologies to sustain and achieve higher growth. Japan has been historically linked with our Indian companies. Japan offers excellent technologies and business opportunities. Large number of companies strong NRI community in Japan has shown serious interests in joint ventures and investment projects in India..
Indian Business delegation to Uganda
27-31 May 2008
A 12 members delegation, organized by ASSOCHAM, visited Kampala from 27-31 May 2008. India-Uganda business meet partners for progress was organized at Fairway Hotel on 28th May. The “Meet” was inaugurated by Uganda’s Finance Minister. The Minister in Presidents office for economic matters was also present. Mr. Abdul Khalique, Head, International Division, ASSOCHAM, delivered the address on behalf of ASSOCHAM and the delegation members stressing the need for closer cooperation between the two countries. The delegation also met the Minster of Information and Communication Technology, Minister of Education and Minister for Social Affairs. High Commissioner of India Shri Niraj Srivastava briefed the delegation on India-Uganda economic and trade relations, besides hosted a reception for the delegation.
Indian Exhibition in Djibouti
21-24 January 2008
ASSOCHAM organized an exhibition of Indian products in Djibouti from 21st to 24th January 2008. Minister of Trade and Industry Mr. Rifky Abdoulkader inaugurated the exhibition. Indian Ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouiti Shri Gurjit Singh and India’s Honorary Consul to Djibouti Shri Nalin Kothari were also present. 25 Indian companies participated in the exhibition which was visited by the entire diplomatic community in Djibouti, Prime Minister and a large number of senior officials besides the family of the President. The exhibition attracted large crowds of Djiboutians and foreigners alike.

Delegation returns after fruitful visit to Brussels and London

closely with the prominent Members of European Parliament (MEPs) and other influential
leaders of Europe at the ASSOCHAM-sponsored second annual India-EU Business Summit
in Brussels on December 3-4. The Europe-India Chamber of Commerce (EICC) was the

Brief Report on ASSOCHAM Trade Exhibition at Sana`a (Yemen)

As part of its focused efforts to promote trade with Afro-Arab region, ASSOCHAM organised the first ever Indian Trade Exhibition in Sana`a (Yemen) from 10th to 15th June, 2007. The Government of Yemen which extended all support to the event was associated with it closely.
More than 35 Indian exhibitors and business representatives participated. Their brief profile is contained in the booklet attached. Prominent among the Indian exhibitors were: NTPC, Videocon, PCP International, Hamdard, Sagar Apollo Healthcare, Euro Ceramics, Keld Ellentoft, Laggar Industry of India, AGI Glaspac, etc.
