ASSOCHAM Reaction: WPI for June 2016

Apex industry body ASSOCHAM today said that rise in Wholesale Price Index (WPI) is in line with industry’s expectation as production denoted by IIP numbers released recently showed weak and unstable demand within the industry itself which might have forced the industry to control and manage its over production and over capacity, which is already in existence, through restricting the supply or put the cap on production which have resulted in increase in WPI numbers though marginally.

No GAAR on P-note maturity, Govt. should clarify, says ASSOCHAM

In order to instill confidence in the global investors and encourage them to retain their interest in the Indian stock market, the government should come out with a clarification that the General Anti-Avoidance Rules (GAAR) would not apply to a Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI) on redemption and maturity of the Participatory Notes, the ASSOCHAM has submitted it to the Finance Ministry.
