Affirmative action refers to a set of policies and practices within a government or organization favouring particular groups based on their gender, race, creed or nationality in areas in which they were excluded in the past such as education and employment

ASSOCHAM Affirmative Action policies are aimed at increasing opportunities for those groups of people which have been neglected by the society. They are mainly focused on providing employment and education opportunities.

Affirmative action policies are also aimed at reducing gender diversity in big corporate houses.
