Quotable Quote

Dr. Manmohan Singh, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India On the ocassion of 87th Annual Session held on 2nd June 2008

I am delighted to be at your Annual General Meeting where you are discussing the impact of globalization on our people. ASSOCHAM is not only one of the oldest chambers of business in India, but it is also one of the earliest to embrace the logic of an open economy. Your leaders have been consistent in their steadfast support for liberalization of our economy. I recall the events of 1991 when we opened up our economy to greater external competition. I take this opportunity to once again express my gratitude for your support, your encouragement and your guidance to carry forward this process of liberalization.

Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Hon'ble Minister for External Affairs, 87th Annual Session held on 2nd June 2008

It gives me great pleasure to be amidst eminent business personalities of India at the 87th Annual Session of ASSOCHAM. I am also happy to release the Chamber’s study report on “Economic Diplomacy – India’s Strategy for Coming New Economic World Order”. The Chamber is credited with bringing out outstanding research papers on the issues which are of concern and relevance to our economy. We look up to the deep insights provided in your studies to issues pertaining to various segments of the economy and business environment. The Chamber has been doing commendable work in providing excellent platform to the industry and government through its summits on various topics. My government values the recommendations provided by your esteemed think tank.

Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Hon'ble President of India, December 4, 2007

I am happy to learn that the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) along with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is organising a two day Global Summit on Entertainment and Media on December 19-20, 2007 at New Delhi

With the country seeing a huge growth in media and entertainment sector, the Summit will be a very good opportunity for professionals and experts to discuss key issues affecting them. The opportunities provided by growth have also brought challenges before the industry. I am sure discussions will also take into account the role of the regional media in all its forms and the impact changing technologies will have on them.

I extend my greetings and felicitations to the organisers and the participants and wish the Summit all success.

Pawan Kumar Bansal, Minister of State for Finance (Expenditure, Banking & Insurance), New Delhi,
January 30, 2008

To sustain India's impressive GDP growth, massive capital investments are required in core sectors of the economy. Towards this end international private equity Investment can catalyze sectoral development and can bring global best manufacturing and management practices to their Indian clients and partners.

The initiative of ASSOCHAM to organize a conference on PRIVATE EQUITY on 31st January 2008 and 1st February 2008 in New Delhi will, I am sure lead to a meaningful debate on the role of Private Equity in India's future growth and yield valuable inputs for policy makers and all stake holders.

Finance Minister says

My presence here is my way of acknowledging the enormous support that I have received from ASSOCHAM and particularly, your President Mr. Sanghi in the last year, on many matters, especially on the Value Added Tax. Of the numerous associations in India, both at the national level and the state level, associations representing specific industries none has been more forthcoming, more forthright in its support of VAT and more outgoing to take the message to all parts of India than ASSOCHAM led by Mr. Sanghi.

So, I want you to know, Mr. Sanghi, that I am deeply grateful to you. I have no doubt that the good work done by this Chamber will be continued in the future.

Shri P Chidambaram
Hon'ble Minister of Finance
