Northern Region Development Council


Northern Region of India accounts for around 31% of the total area, 32% of the population and 27% of the national GDP. ASSOCHAM’s Northern Region Development Council constitutes of the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh UT and the newly formed Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. ASSOCHAM’s Northern Region Development Council, works closely with the industry and government stakeholders to create a holistic growth and developmental environment. The council steered by the council members, under the leadership of the Chairman and consultation of the Secretariat, partners with industry, government, civil bodies through advisory and consultative platforms.

ASSOCHAM Northern Region Development Council proposes to be an equal partner with the state governments and UT administrations in key areas like facilitating international partnership linkages for SMEs, helping in creation of R&D infrastructural support system for innovation and incubation for new businesses, providing policy advisory support for pertinent issues impacting industry and attracting newer investments to create more jobs.

ASSOCHAM Northern Region Development Council is keen to work with the decision makers to develop and implement a sustainable growth model for the region that will finally contribute towards the holistic development of the country. Hence, ASSOCHAM NR Development Council has identified ease of doing business, entrepreneurship development, exploring new partnerships and new markets as the key enablers for growth of the region.
