ASSOCHAM’s India-Japan Business Promotion Council
in association with Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (JCCII) is organizing a “Conference on Japanese Investment in North East Region of India” on Thursday, 8th August 2019 at Hotel Taj Mahal, Man Singh Road, New Delhi.

NEC Technologies India a wholly own subsidiary of NEC Corp (Japan) is the Knowledge Partner for the conference. The outcome report of the conference shall be submitted to concerned authorities.

North East Region is still an unexplored region and has abundant resources both natural and human. North East Region has a strategic advantage of being the gateway to ASEAN market and offers business and non business opportunities to Japan. Japan with its advanced technology and investment models and India with its resources can be brought together to a common platform in this conference.

India is keen to encourage Japan’s investment in the North Eastern States (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim) under the “Act East Policy” of Government of India. Through Japanese investments, we aim to uplift the economic and social status, encourage Human Resources & Skill Development, Tourism, Infrastructure, Regional Connectivity, Rural and Cottage Industry (Silk and Handlooms), Agriculture and Food Parks, Trade Logistics, Industry etc. in the North Eastern States of India.

Japan is the 3rd largest investor in India’s economy with cumulative FDI inflow of $ 27.28bn during 2000-2018, contributing 7 percent to India’s total FDI inflow during the same period. In September 2014, during Prime Minister Modi’s visit, Japan pledged to invest ¥3.5 trillion in public and private investments in India over the years 2014–2019. Through its investments, the country has been involved in many infrastructure development projects in India, such as the upcoming Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor, and the Delhi Metro, etc.

The conference is expected to attract billions of investment in North East States.

The conference offers attractive branding & visibility to Indian & Japanese companies interested in development of North East Region (NER) of India.
