Renewable energy options like solar and wind power offers huge potential for power generation that would entail less dependence on fossil fuels and associated benefits. The potential of renewable energy in the state and the facilitating role of the Government of Rajasthan is widely acknowledged. While the state of Rajasthan already has significant experience with the generation and transmission of renewable energy, there are concerns relating to accelerated deployment of renewable energy
Rajasthan is emerging as a national leader in renewable energy as fifty percent of the total allotted projects under Jawaharlal Nehru Solar Mission – Phase 2 ( Batch I) are located in Rajasthan and substantial amount of investment is coming in wind energy in the state. Creation of critical infrastructure such as solar park and evacuation system, providing innovative financing mechanisms and developing newer technologies are priority areas for the growth of renewable energy in the state.
In order to discuss the various policy  initiatives and technical developments favouring growth of renewable energy  sector in the state of Rajasthan and the challenges that are being faced, ASSOCHAM is organizing a Conference on “Solar and Wind Power: Destination Rajasthan” on 1st May 2014 at Jai Mahal Palace in Jaipur.
The objective of the conference is to discuss various regulatory and policy issues relating to development and deployment of solar and wind energy technologies in Rajasthan, so as to evolve  implementable solutions to tap huge opportunities existing in the state and would be a platform for exchange of ideas by various stakeholders.
