The Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) is organizing an “Education Summit cum Excellence Award” on 9th day of July 2014 in Hotel Hindusthan International, Kolkata at 9 a.m.
As you are aware that ASSOCHAM as an apex chamber of the nation has been regularly engaging itself with the policy makers (Ministry of HRD, Planning Commission and AIU including Education Bodies / Institutions) to bring the desired reforms in the education sector-more so on a holistic basis. The apex chamber has undertaken many initiatives to bring reforms in education especially in the country’s need to improve the gross enrollment ratio in higher education, employability and skill development.
It has also been observed that there has been a significant participation of non govt sector in imparting quality education. They are effectively contributing to the Indian GDP as well as to the national economy. The participation of non govt sector in Indian Education ecosystem has helped our countrymen receive quality education and subsequently create effective citizens of tomorrow. The foundation led by education institutions has helped the country compete on a global basis. The non govt education sector has also created huge employment and it has been trying to uplift the country`s overall educational affairs in its own way. Today, India has the largest number of institutions, second largest in terms of enrollment with largest higher education system in the world.
Under such circumstances ASSOCHAM has decided to organize an “Eastern India Education Excellence Award” in Kolkata with an objective to honor education institutions on the following parameters:
  • Innovation
  • Scalability
  • Ability to overcome challenges
  • Achievements
  • Impact Potential
The above mentioned Awards would be decided by certain procedures and rules governing the evaluation of the entries. The entire process of evaluation and reporting will be conducted by the eminent jury according to certain norms and schedules.
There is also an Education Summit –which would be held preceding the award ceremony.
A following issues pertaining to the Higher Education, School Education and Technical Education are also expected to be discussed in the summit:
  •  Pursuit of Excellence in research/innovation in Universities.
  • Fostering quality culture in Education system.
  • Quality in Higher Education & employability.
  • Governance & Regulatory Reforms.
  • RUSA Scheme-to achieve equity, access & excellence.
  • Utilising standards in education both at University and School level.
  • The Summit would also  cover issues and opportunities related to vocational Education, skill development, e-Education, on line learning & open education resources-challenges facing Higher education.
We are also happy to share that global consulting firm “Frost & Sullivan” has also agreed to become the “Knowledge Partner” for this prestigious summit.
The participation as well as nomination to the award is open for educational institution.
To defray a part of the organizing cost we are charging an award nomination fee of 6000/- per category.
We would be offering the following to every nominating institution:
  • One delegate participation from the concerned institution for the summit as well as for the award ceremony; on a complimentary basis.
  • 2 times Networking Hi Tea
  • Networking Lunch
  • A complimentary copy of the ASSOCHAM-Frost & Sullivan Knowledge Report
  • Subsidized Delegate participation fee; incase the institution decides to register more delegates.
