The World has witnessed some of the worst disasters recently which in turn have forced us to rethink about our preparedness and management measures. Increasing trend of conflict between human activity and the ecosystem is becoming alarming to global environment causing climate change leading to increased calamities. A UN report suggests that climate change will displace hundreds of millions of people by the end of this century, increasing the risk of violent conflict and wiping trillions of dollars off the global economy. 
 
As a pre cursor ASSOCHAM had organized a Conference on Calamities: Nature or Human Actions? Challenges and Responsibilities on 5th March 2014 at New Delhi in association with NDMA, ONGC, USAID AND UNDP. Among the major recommendations came out of the conference, one was to involve private sector across value chain in disaster response and mitigation activities. Dignitaries in the conference also opined to encourage stakeholders by taking this cause at the highest level.
 
For this reason ASSOCHAM, the premier ‘Knowledge Chamber’ in India, is organizing Global Leadership Summit-cum- Awards: Climate Change and Calamities… Sharing of Experiences and Strategies on 17th September 2014, New Delhi to provide a platform for knowledge sharing, partnering, demonstrating innovations, exploring business options and policies suggestions to the problems of CC and the resultant rising calamities. ASSOCHAM has already requested Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukharjee to inaugurate the summit and to launch awards for recognizing and rewarding corporate and others initiatives that have created awareness or contributed to the mitigation of climate change.
 
Objectives
  • Development and implementation of an integrated disaster risk management approach with the emphasis on sharing the experiences obtained under different cultural and socio-economic approach
  • Create an effective platform for knowledge sharing, networking among the key players in the area of Climate Change and Green Technology
  • Demonstrate the innovations in green technology by industry, governments, research organizations, NGOs, People’s Groups etc
  • To explore the business opportunities in addressing the impact of Climate Change
  • Encourage the participation of all stakeholders in Steps towards Mitigation, in accordance with their responsibilities through PPP or CSR.

Registration Fees: 

  • Delegate Fees: Rs 15000/- per person (Special discount of 10% if 3 or more delegates are registered from the same organization)

Rs 12500/- per person if registered before July 30, 2014. Early bird discount and special discount can also be clubbed together if participants satisfy both the conditions mentioned above.
