The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), was established in 1920 as India's Apex Chamber, also known as the “Knowledge Chamber” with a Membership of over 4,50,000 companies and professionals across the country.
ASSOCHAM has been at the forefront of advocating policy interventions for the growth of Industry and the overall economy. We have a very active National Council on e-Commerce which has been organizing several programs related to the sector in the country.
According to one estimate India’s $3 billion e- Commerce market will reach more than $19 billion in five year. India has one of the youngest online populations and its Smartphone adoption is growing faster than China’s. And because e- Commerce totals less than 1 % of retail spending there is room for a lot of us to grow.
India crossed the 100 million internet user figure in 2010 and reached 121 million users by end 2011, making it the third largest country worldwide in terms of its internet population. The number of internet users in India is expected to triple to 300 million by 2015, growing at a CAGR of 25.5%. Mobile internet users are expected to account for more than 60% of the user base in India, considering that their number is forecast to reach 200 million by 2015.
ASSOCHAM is proposing the 3rd e-Commerce India Conclave on Tuesday, 19th August 2014, at Hotel Hyatt Regency, New Delhi starting from 09:30 am and to conclude by 04:00 pm.
