We are happy to inform you that The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) is organizing a summit on “Leveraging the Jan Dhan Yojana: A Viable Option for Sustainable Development of Women Entrepreneurship” on 26 November, 2014 at Hotel Hyatt Regency in New Delhi.

The objective of the seminar is to provide a common platform for deliberation among Banks & Financial Institutions, NBFCs, Microfinance, Corporate Banks, Technology providers and many others to understand difficulties people are facing in respect of their financial needs by leveraging the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and to discuss the underlying issues in implementing and monitoring Financial Inclusion Schemes taking in account the need for finding sustainable solutions for development of women entrepreneurship.

You will be happy to know that we have invited Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce & Industry (I/C) and Finance & Corporate Affairs, Government of India to inaugurate the Summit as the Chief Guest. Dr. Kiran Bedi has kindly agreed to grace the occasion. We are also inviting senior government officials from Ministry of Finance, NSIC, RBI, SIDBI, NABARD, World Bank, UNDP and various banks and financial institutions to join us at the seminar.

"If we want to eradicate poverty, we need to get rid of financial untouchability”, as quoted by Shri Narendra Modi during the launch of the Jan Dhan Yojana. The Government of India and the Reserve Bank of India have been making concerted efforts to promote financial inclusion as one of the important national objectives of the country.

ASSOCHAM through its global network, works to ensure that women have a real voice in all governance institutions, from the judiciary to the civil service, as well as in the private sector and civil society, so they can participate equally with men in public dialogue and decision-making and influence the decisions that will determine the future of their families and countries. Henceforth a need is seen to fulfill the financial constraints a woman faces to develop her entrepreneur skills and doesn’t become a stumbling block in the success of the economy.

On behalf of ASSOCHAM, we take this opportunity to request you to kindly participate in the seminar. The seminar brochure along with the registration form is enclosed for your kind information.
