At the recent All India Conference of DGPs and IGPs held in Assam, the Hon’ble Prime Minister spoke about “SMART” policing where S meant Strict but Sensitive, M meant Modern and Mobile, A meant Alert and Accountable, R meant Reliable and Responsive and T meant Techno Savvy and Trained. Considerable thought would have gone into his new acronym in which he has two meanings for each letter, which certainly addresses most of the responsibilities and expectations from today’s police force from across the country.

With the proliferation of technology in our lives, it is important that the Police remains technology savvy and updated. The ASSOCHAM, India’s Apex Chamber for Commerce and Industry, representing more than 4,50,000 Corporate Members from across the country, was perhaps the first Chamber, post the 26/11 terrorist attack, to have invited the Hon’ble Minister for Home Affairs to interact with the Industry. This year the ASSOCHAM National Council on Homeland Security proposes to organize a one day 4th National Conference on Homeland Security with the theme: “A Safe City: Architecture For India”.

We are delighted to inform you that Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has already confirmed to be the “Chief Guest” at 4th National Conference on Homeland Security at 10.00am.
