Sustainable urban infrastructure and its efficient management is an urgent need and a major challenge. An investment of about USD 1.2 trillion is required to cater to the demand of Indian cities. Finances of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in India are much stressed and needed to be addressed urgently.
There are several ways to improve the financial position of cities, such as, issuance of municipal bonds or other structured financial instruments, monetization of land, attracting private investments through PPPs, effective cost management, etc. In practice, barring a few exceptions, local governments have not succeeded. They need to understand the structural issues behind this apparent failure and develop lasting solutions.
Therefore, to identify innovative ideas as also actionable policy measures that can be taken up by the Government of India and State Governments to improve their market access to finances, ASSOCHAM is organizing a National Conference on ‘Innovation to Make Cities Financially Sustainable’ at 09:30 a.m. on April 14, 2015 at Hotel Taj Mahal, Mansingh Road in New Delhi.
The Conference will bring together key decision makers and other important stakeholder groups from Industry, city managers, financiers and policy makers to attempt to develop a range of strategies, tools and action agenda to achieve financial sustainability in Indian cities. The forum will facilitate free flow of information and ideas to generate solutions that are practical and actionable in the long term to make our cities financially strong and sustainable.

In view of the importance of the subject, we would request you to kindly Participate in this important Conference and also nominate your colleagues to attend the same. We would also request your organization to be the PARTNER / SPONSOR of the Conference.
