An efficient and financially viable power sector is an important pre-requisite for the growth of the economy and all round socio-economic development.
Towards achieving this objective the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2014 will usher in much needed further reforms in the power sector. The amendment will also promote competition, efficiency in operations so as to have improved quality of supply of electricity in the country. This will no doubt lead to energy access by large cross section of population with resultant capacity addition and ultimate benefit to the consumer. This is a major initiative by the Government towards providing affordable 24x7 power to all household by 2019.
