Introduction

Enhancing the share of renewable in the overall energy basket of the country is a priority for the Government. With solar power at the centre stage, this ambitious programme has projected to install 100 GW of solar electricity by 2022. A number of instruments have been in use to promote development of solar power in the country. However, the effectiveness of these instruments depends on the way they are implemented.

At the same time, there is a need to drive demand for locally manufactured solar equipments in India. Long term funding and financing are some of the major hurdles for development of solar manufacturing in India.

In order to discuss the above and related issues, ASSOCHAM is organizing a Conference on “Solar Power in India” to be held in August 2015 in New Delhi. The theme of the Conference is “Accelerating Deployment”.
