India's Pharma industry has been at the forefront of the public health revolution to make medicines affordable. Generic drug manufacturers in India have lowered prices of a range of therapeutics and saved millions of lives. But time and gain various doubts have been raised about the quality of medicines manufactured in India which has not only threatened domestic production but also exports which is the prime commodity exported by India.
Good Manufacturing Practice is that part of quality management which ensures that products are consistently produced and controlled according to the quality standards appropriate to their intended use and as required by the marketing authorization, clinical trial authorization or product specification. GMP is concerned with both production and QC. Fact about Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) is aimed primarily at managing and minimizing the risks inherent in pharmaceutical manufacture to ensure the quality, safety and efficacy of products.
Therefore, understanding and navigating the increasingly complex regulatory scenario of GMP, good clinical practices and good laboratory practices is crucial. However, the ever-changing and increasingly unforgiving regulatory scenario in the Pharma industry is a veritable minefield. With the absence of global harmonization of quality systems makes it all the more challenging for India that exports to US, Europe, Australia, Japan, etc, to comply with a plethora of regulatory guidelines across the globe.

With this background ASSOCHAM is organizing a Conference-cum-Awareness Programe on “Quality Management in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing: GMP to drive growth” on December 3, 2015 at Dehradun, on January 28, 2016 at Gangtok, Sikkim and on March 16, 2016 at Panji, Goa, with the objective of converging stakeholders at common platform for reaching to sustainable solutions.
