The State is a facilitator of sports development in the country. However, it has been observed that in recent times cronyism is a constant phenomenon in Sports Associations/Councils.
With the spurt of sporting events in the new century, it becomes necessary to understand how a new model came up in cricket which seems to have considerably influenced the sector. It also needs to be understood if this model can be successfully replicated in other sports.
The voluntary support of private individuals and investments from the business community for developing sports was a crucial feature of this growth. Such a voluntary effort has brought more accountability and transparency to sports in India.
With Olympic Games and the ICC World Twenty20 being organized this year, ASSOCHAM, India’s Apex Chamber for Commerce & Industry, proposes to organize a National Discussion on Issues related to Sports Governance and Policy Development including the National Sports Development Bill on Thursday, 18th February, 2016 at Hotel Taj Mahal, New Delhi.
Hon’ble Minister, Secretary Sports Government of India, Prominent Sports personalities, Legal luminaries and Sports professionals are being invited on the occasion for a brain storming Discussion and for preparing the Recommendations on the subject.
On behalf of ASSOCHAM, we cordially invite your esteemed organization’s active participation in the Discussion on SPORTS GOVERNANCE & POLICY DEVELOPMENT.
