- Key Challenges and Opportunities -

10 August, 2016, ASSOCHAM, New Delhi

About the event

Private sector participation in disaster response has always been instrumental and has been increasing over the years. Relief and recovery work carried out by different corporates after Odisha Cyclone (1999), Gujarat Earthquake (2001) and Tamil Nadu Tsunami (2004) sites successful CSR interventions by private sectors. However, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) intervention with respect to Disaster Risk Reduction still one of the least focussed areas in India.

The involvement of private sector in disaster risk reduction is a key to implement national priorities of Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) and National Disaster Management Plan.  Therefore, to address the investments, strategy, opportunities and impact of CSR initiatives in Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation initiatives, the ASSOCHAM and All India Disaster Mitigation Institute (AIDMI) are jointly organizing a round table on “CSR and Disaster Risk Reduction - Key Challenges and Opportunities on Wednesday, 10 August, 2016 at ASSOCHAM Board Room, New Delhi.
