The symposium will facilitate a comprehensive water-energy reforms process by the civil society and business leaders to help develop market-based solutions for efficiency gains, innovative business models through usage of newer technology and enhanced investments. The forum will provide a platform for Industry to engage with Government of India and find more holistic solutions for water-energy resource management.  

Background of the Conference.

India, with population of over 1.2 billion and the GDP growing at a rate of 8% per annum, the demand for two key resources - water and energy, are rapidly increasing. As the economy develops further, both these resource are likely to face increased stress.  Water and energy are intimately intertwined and the availability of one affects the availability of the other. Water and Energy are two most important resources which are critically important for sustenance of life and our nation building.  While interlinking of rivers could ensure availability of water in drought prone area as also help flood control through distribution of water to the rainfed regions in rural India, exploring distributed power generation through run of river and solar hybrid projects shall provide energy security in the country.
