Chief Guest:
Shri C.R. Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Govt. of India
The Direct selling industry offers economic benefits to a nation and has been recognized worldwide as it advances trade and facilitates the economy by promoting alternative sources of income, self-employment, self-sufficiency, the setting up of micro-enterprises, and entrepreneurship. In countries like Mexico, which have similar socio-economic structures, with one-tenth of India's population, the size of the direct selling industry is at least eight times bigger. Indian Direct Selling Industry promotes self-employment in the country which supports 4.03 Millions of individuals approximately. ASSOCHAM believes that Direct Selling Industry still has to reach its true potential viz-a-viz business and trade volume.
The Indian direct selling industry feels that the law in its current form is unable to distinguish between genuine direct selling companies from pyramid and ponzi schemes and this had resulted in alleged harassment/ criminal action against the industry. To resolve the problem, the Department of Consumer affairs has introduced guidelines for direct selling. But on ground, direct sellers in India are facing an enormous challenge due to absence of legislation and a proper regulatory framework.
Therefore, with a view to discussing various legal aspects and opportunities in direct selling Industry, ASSOCHAM is organizing an “International Conference on Direct Selling - Need for Policy & Regulatory Framework” at 10.00 a.m. on 22nd November 2017 in New Delhi. Shri C.R. Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution has very kindly agreed to address the participants at the Summit. The Summit would bring all stakeholders together and would suggest an effective legal framework for the orderly growth and development of the industry.
In view of the importance of the subject, we would request you to kindly Participate in this important Conference and also nominate your colleagues to attend the same. We would also request your organization to be the PARTNER / SPONSOR for the Conference as per details enclosed for your kind reference.
