The Indian M&E Industry is constantly facing challenges like violation of IP rights, cyber laws, copyright and trademark or Piracy. According to an estimate, the Industry has lost US$700 million in 2016 due to piracy and the losses are expected to grow to US$3.1 billion by 2022. Same is the case with Indian music industry which today stands nineteenth in the global music market and as per a report by International Phonographic Industry, has to fight a staggering loss of Rs 1500 crore due to piracy through illegal sites.
Though it is not a new subject and many industry leaders have expressed their concern on the issue, still the issue remains and industry continues to suffer huge losses.
ASSOCHAM, India’s Apex Chamber for Commerce and Industry under the aegis of National Council on Entertainment and Media proposes to organize an International Summit on the Piracy and IPR issues in M&E Industry on Thursday, 13th December, 2018 in New Delhi.
The Objective of this Summit is to bring the concerned stakeholders, including key Government officials, Law enforcement agencies together and attempt to find a concrete sustainable solution.
