Nutrition and Food Security is a global challenge with huge social and economic costs; nearly every country faces a public health challenge, whether from under nutrition, overweight/obesity, and/or micronutrient deficiencies. Both, nutrition and Food security is a multi-sectoral, multi-level issue that deals with the complex interplay between household and individual decision-making, agri-food, health, and environmental systems that determine access to services and resources, and related policy processes.

India has one of the world’s highest demographics of population suffering from malnutrition. In India, over decades, though there has been reduction in severe acute food insecurity, the under-nutrition and micronutrient deficiencies are widespread.  The government has taken initiative of large food security and anti-poverty programs, stillpoor quality of food lacking essential micronutrients and unhygienic conditions of storage is a big problem in our country.
To address this subject matter of international importance ASSOCHAM proposes to hold a “2nd National Conference and Awards on Nutrition and Food - Fortification, Regulation & Supply Chain” on March 13th, 2019 at New Delhi. This conference will provide the platform for global leaders in Food processing sector, practitioners, scientists, farmers, dieticians, organized agriculture, civil society, and NGOs to discuss and share experiences on successes, and to deliberate the opportunities and challenges faced in ensuring food and nutrition security. The highlight of the conference will be G2G, B2G and B2B meetings charting the way forward to ensure nutrition security keeping social and commercial interests in mind.
