About Event  | Brochure

In our country, awareness and education on menstrual hygiene and health is still at preliminary stage. Substantial numbers of girls and women have inadequate knowledge and misconceptions about menstruation. The variety of symptoms and taboos restrict their participation in household, school, workplaces or social activities during those days.

There is an immense need to ‘break the silence and cascade awareness’ in favor of menstruation hygiene practices. The objective is to overcome menstrual stigma and create a healthy and conducive environment where every women and girl can manage her menstruation in a hygienic way to reach their full potential. Empowering every woman and girl through menstrual hygiene& health education is a key focus area. Access to menstrual hygiene management and knowledge at school level will further help in empowering girls take a greater charge of their lives with safety, dignity and privacy.

On Menstrual Hygiene Day,
with an objective to bring together multiple stakeholders including corporate, government agencies, healthcare professionals, volunteers, media, etc to discuss responsibilities of stakeholders and spread public awareness on menstrual hygiene and health, ASSOCHAM is organizing Conference on Menstrual Hygiene: Need to Break the Silence and Build Awareness on Tuesday, 28th May, 2019 at Hotel Royal Plaza, New Delhi.
