The impact of climate change is becoming more pronounced, and its effects are more in agriculture sector in recent years. Karnataka has the 2nd largest area under rainfed agriculture, after Rajasthan in the country.  About 55% of the total food grain production and 74% of oil seeds production come from rainfed agriculture in Karnataka.  The vulnerability of agriculture in states like Karnataka is much more and in this context, it is important to analyze the trends and identify measures required to build in resilience in rainfed agriculture leading to development of an implementation plan.

To deliberate on the issues and challenges and arrive at the white papers/report on the Impact of Climate Change in Agriculture and Strategies to meet the challenges in the State.  ASSOCHAM in collaboration with TERI ( The Energy and Resource Institute) is organized one day conference on “Approaches to Shaping Climate Resilient Agriculture” on 28th February 2020, The Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru.
Based on the panel discussions, recommendations on each of the thematic areas could be brought out in the concluding session for the benefit of stakeholders and policy makers and white paper and report will be submitted to State and Central Government.
This conference seeks to highlight the risks associated with climate change and the current landscape of climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies in agriculture in the country. It will bring together key policy makers of the Central & State Government of relevant divisions, leading researchers & scientists, key Farmers Producer Organisations (FPO), leading banks, academic institutes & Universities, industry/trade representatives, Corporates and Non-Governmental organization
