Interactive Session on Enforcing Contract: Government Reforms and Way Forward

ASSOCHAM has scheduled a Conference cum Interactive Session on
Enforcing Contract: Government Reforms and Way Forwards on 10th October 2020 during 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm jointly with Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. As, we know that Department of Justice is the nodal department for implementation of reforms to improve “Enforcing Contracts” to improve India’s ranking in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business.

A Task Force has been constituted to implement various reforms under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Department of Justice which regularly monitors implementation of reforms status in all dedicated commercial courts set-up in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. The performance of a country in “Enforcing Contracts” is measured in time and cost to resolve a standardized commercial dispute in commercial courts as well as measuring quality of judicial processes index which contains a series of good practices in the judiciary.

India is aiming to improving its position to come into the top 50 bracket and this ambitious target is not possible unless we make rapid strides in the parameter of “Enforcing Contracts”. The objective underlying behind improving India’s EODB profiling is to catalyze investors’ confidence at large so that it yields better and heightened external and internal investments and pump up the economy.
