" Webinar on Awareness on Cervical Cancer"

28 January, 2021

About Event

Cervical cancer forms 16.5% of the total cancer cases in Indian women and is the second most common type of cancer amongst women in the country (breast cancer being the first). In 2018, an estimated 570 000 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer worldwide and about 311 000 women died from the disease.
Cervical Cancer is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), a virus that is generally transmitted through sexual contact. Countries with a low socio-demographic index (SDI*) generally have a higher number of women who succumb to cervical cancer.
There is a lead time of almost 15 years between the viral infection and the development of cancer. Also, there are many means to detect the changes in body before cancer develops. Unfortunately, due to lack of awareness in India cervical cancer is diagnosed in advanced stage. It is very important to know that how we can protect ourselves from the viral infection and get early treatment if afflicted with the disease.
To spread awareness and share relevant information on this critical subject ASSOCHAM is organizing a webinar on “Awareness on Cervical Cancer” on January 28, 2020 at 3pm.
