29 April, 2021

About Event

India is undergoing rapid urbanization with over 31% of India’s population currently live in urban areas which is expected to grow to 40% by 2030 contributing about 75% of India’s Gross Domestic Product. These Cities need to provide a receptive, innovative and productive environment, which can promote faster and sustainable growth ensuring a better quality of living. Hence, it is imperative to have a comprehensive strategy to fulfill the rising demand in the housing sector.

Conventional construction systems, such as the use of brick and mortar are slow paced, energy intensive, dependent on natural resources and have a large carbon footprint. The entry of innovative and alternative construction technologies in India has been gaining usage, and while these technologies have entered the market, its acceptance and adoption needs to be enhanced. A concerted effort is required to create mass awareness to accept a technology transition from conventional to new technologies. This transition will contribute towards achieving the ‘Sustainable Development Goals’.

The Government of India has taken proactive initiatives and has set up a Technology Sub-mission to facilitate adoption of modern, innovative and green technologies and building material for faster and quality construction of houses. However, there is need to transform the urban landscape for new urban India to full the vision of AatmaNirbhar Bharat.

Therefore, with a view to discussing the
various aspects of housing technology innovations and its adoption, ASSOCHAM is organizing a Webinar on ‘Optimizing Housing Technologies and Innovations -The Way Forward’ on April 29, 2021 from  4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
