JRD Tata exemplifies a ‘Renaissance Man’ in today’s context, whose ideology drastically transformed the Indian industrial landscape. To commemorate and honour JRD’s unparalleled contribution to the Indian industry, ASSOCHAM instituted an annual lecture series titled ‘JRD Tata Memorial Lecture’ in 1998.
The last year’s Lecture, Fifteenth in the series, was delivered by Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission. The earlier distinguished eminent speakers have been Dr. Manmohan Singh, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India; Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the then Hon’ble President of India; Shri P. Chidambaram; Dean Nitin Nohria, Dr. D. Subbarao, Governor, Reserve Bank of India; Shri Kumar Mangalam Birla; Shri Somnath Chatterjee; Shri M. Damodaran; Late Shri. P.V.Narasimha Rao; Shri Azim H. Premji; Shri N.R. Narayanamurthy; Dr. K Kasturirangan; Prof. M.S. Swaminathan and Dr. C. Rangarajan.
We are happy to mention that Dr. Kaushik Basu, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist, World Bank has kindly agreed to deliver this year’s Lecture scheduled to be held on Monday, 19th August, 2013 at New Delhi. 
On this occasion, we would be bringing out a prestigious Special Publication containing articles by eminent personalities, citizens, acknowledged leaders and experts in their own fields. Broadly, the authors will cover the entire gamut of opportunities and critical challenges that confront the Indian economy and recommend policy prescriptions to achieve the stated goals. A copy of the list of eminent personalities who contributed Articles in the last year's Special Publication is attached as Annexure II for your ready reference.
