Food Processing Industry (FPI) sector forms important segment in Indian economy in terms of contribution to GDP, employment, investment and exports. The sector contributes as much as 9 to 10 per cent of GDP in Agriculture & Manufacturing sector.
Bihar is a land of immense opportunities for food processing owing to its agricultural potential. Bihar is the eighth largest producer of food grains in the country, the second largest producer of vegetables (6.72 million MT per annum) and the sixth largest producer of fruits (3.03 million MT per annum).
