India’s Entrepreneurial Journey

24 Jun 2022

Entrepreneurship is deep-rooted in India’s cultural milieu and is a crucial economic pillar for the country. Despite the recent celebration of the Indian start-ups, entrepreneurship is not a new trend in India. There is ample data supporting the country’s entrepreneurial inclinations, as the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor estimated the almost 90 per cent of Indians consider entrepreneurship a desirable career choice, in 2021, against the global average of 68.7 per cent.

Traditional family businesses continue to have a strong foothold in the Indian landscape, with the country among the top global leaders for family businesses. Not often cited in the media, family entrepreneurship varies from the VC/PE-backed start-up ventures.
