India is at the forefront of the green hydrogen movement, which is key to reducing carbon emissions and meeting decarbonization goals. The ASSOCHAM National Council on Green Hydrogen & Derivatives is instrumental in developing and shaping industry policies, including electrolyser manufacturing, green hydrogen production plants, transmission, and storage.

The council frequently represents ASSOCHAM in discussions with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Ministry of Power (MOP), and Central Electricity Authority (CEA), addressing challenges and proposing solutions to help achieve India's National Green Hydrogen Mission target of producing at least 5 million metric tons (MMT) of green hydrogen annually by 2030.

The council has conducted a comprehensive study named “Hydrogen Policy Study”, aiming to address industry challenges and propose policy developments that enhance the ease of doing business for the sector.

It conducts meetings to identify industry challenges and crafts representations for relevant ministries, regulatory authorities, and other government bodies.
