The ASSOCHAM National Council on Sustainability & Environment is the Chamber's flagship platform for advancing sustainable industrial growth and environmental leadership in India. The Council brings together policymakers, industry leaders, academia, technology providers, and development partners to accelerate India's transition towards a net-zero, climate-resilient, resource-efficient, and nature-positive future.

The Council drives policy advocacy, industry collaboration, innovation, and capacity building across seven strategic verticals, which are, Climate & Net Zero, Circular Economy & Resource Efficiency, Water Stewardship, ESG & Responsible Business, Sustainable Cities & Built Environment, Biodiversity & Natural Capital, and Clean Energy & Green Technology. Through these focus areas, the Council promotes sustainable business practices, environmental stewardship, and technology-led solutions that strengthen industrial competitiveness and resilience.

To deliver measurable impact, the Council currently anchors two flagship platforms, the ASSOCHAM National Council on Water, advancing water stewardship and water security, and the GEM – Green Building Certification Programme, promoting sustainable cities and the built environment. Together, these platforms enable policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, capacity building, and collaborative action to support India's sustainability and climate ambitions.

The Council advances its mission through ASSOCHAM's 4A Approach : Advocate, Align, Accelerate, and Advance by championing progressive policies, fostering strategic partnerships, accelerating sustainable industrial transformation, and advancing innovation and knowledge leadership for a resilient and resource-efficient India.
