Over the years, corporate governance has emerged as a critical global framework for protecting and balancing the interests of stakeholders and shareholders through transparency, accountability, and effective disclosure practices.

The ASSOCHAM Council on Corporate Affairs, Company Law & Corporate Governance serves as a dynamic Industry Policy Forum dedicated to promoting global best practices in corporate governance. The Council works closely with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) to provide policy recommendations and advocate regulatory reforms, including necessary amendments to the Companies Act, 2013, that strengthen India's corporate and business ecosystem.

The Council also actively engages with key regulatory bodies, including SEBI, ICAI, the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI), and ICSI, on matters relating to corporate governance, compliance, and public policy. Acting as a bridge between industry, regulators, and stakeholders across the country, the Council promotes awareness of the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013, enabling organisations to strengthen governance practices, achieve regulatory compliance, and enhance business competitiveness.

Through dedicated task forces, policy consultations, conferences, and knowledge initiatives, the Council contributes to the Chamber's vision by fostering dialogue, supporting economic reforms, and encouraging the adoption of robust corporate governance standards across the Indian economy.
